What is considered a tax deductible donation
A tax-deductible donation is any donation over $2AUD that was not given in exchange for goods or services. For Australian residents, donations of $2 or more made to the Steptember campaign are tax-deductible. International donors, such as those in New Zealand, should note that while their contributions are processed in Australian dollars, these are generally not tax-deductible in their country of residence.
Examples of payments that are not tax-deductible include:
Registration fees
Purchases of raffle tickets
Any funds donated from outside of Australia
Donations providing specific personal benefits to the donor (e.g., receiving complimentary merchandise, free entry passes).Additionally, international donors should consult their local tax regulations or a tax advisor to clarify the deductibility of their contributions.
