Within the Steptember app there are 4 ways to log steps:
Ensure to choose either steps OR activities per entry to avoid errors; combining both in one entry is not allowed and may result in logging issues.
IN-BUILT TRACKER
Open the app
Click ‘LOG STEPS’ and then ‘Start tracking’ which will take you to the in-built app step/activity tracker.
Click the 'Start' button and then you can start stepping!
Once completed your stepping select the ‘Stop’ button and your activity will be logged.
You will have the option to write a description and add a photo before clicking 'SAVE ACTIVITY'.
Notes:
If the activity is under 200m it will be considered too short and you will not be able to record the activity.
You will need to enable location permissions for the tracker to work.
Make sure your Steptember registration is fully completed; incomplete registrations may cause logging issues.
Ensure your app is updated to the latest version for optimal functionality.
LOG STEPS - manually log your steps

Click ‘LOG STEPS’ and then 'Steps' which will allow you to enter steps manually, e.g., from another tracking device such as your wearable watch or pedometer.

You will have the option to 'POST TO FEED' and add an optional description and photo or you can can select skip.
LOG ACTIVITY - Manually Add In Activity

Logging On the Website
To log your progress via the website:
Enter your total number of steps for the day and submit for step logging.
For activity logging, select the activity type from a dropdown menu, enter the duration in minutes, and submit.
Ensure not to combine steps and activities in a single entry to avoid errors.
Notes:
For Apple Health and Google Health Connect you will need to allow access to the data by selecting ‘turn on all’ (example shown is for Apple Health).
Any steps recorded using the Tracker will be deducted from Apple Health/Google Health Connect to avoid duplication.
Update the app to the latest version from your device's app store if synchronisation issues occur.
Log out of the app and log back in to refresh the connection.
If problems persist, reinstall the app as a last resort to resolve syncing or logging challenges.
Notes:
Any stepping/activity data logged prior to 1 September will be wiped clear by 23:59pm AEST 31 August.
Your last day to log stepping/activity data is by 23.59pm AEST 6 October 2025.
There is an overall single entry limit of 75k steps across website and app.
